David McCandless on Information Design

Start Time: April 7, 2015

On April 7th 2015, AFAR co-hosted the event, Knowledge is Beautiful: David McCandless on Information Design and Aging Research, with Pratt Institute’s Graduate Communications Design program and Spatial Analysis and Visualization Initiative (SAVI).

Attended by over 70 leaders from tech, nonprofit, scientific, and design fields at Pratt’s Manhattan campus, the program kicked off with a presentation by acclaimed data journalist David McCandless on his practice of visual storytelling.

McCandless then joined AFAR Board Member and President of the Glenn Foundation for Medical Research, Mark Collins, to discuss their collaboration on the “Live Longer, Live Well” animation, which was created by McCandless, the Glenn Foundation, and AFAR. Morgan Clendaniel, Editor of FastCoExist moderated the discussion.

AFAR is grateful to our partners at Pratt Institute and all attendees for their support.
