2021 Scientific Awards Lectures and Reception at GSA Annual Meeting

AFAR will present its 2021 Scientific Awards of Distinction on November 12, 2021, from 3:30pm - 5:30pm ET, during the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) 2021 Annual Scientific Meeting.

Recipients of AFAR's 2021 Scientific Awards of Distinction recipients will also present lectures on their respective research.

Dr. Hansen will present a lecture on "Cellular Recycling in Aging and Disease: The Importance of Taking Out the Trash."

2021 Vincent Cristofalo Rising Star Award in Aging Research Recipient

Dr. Levine will present a lecture on "DNA Menthylation Landscapes in Aging."

Andrea Gilmore-Bykovskyi, PhD, RN

2021 Terrie Fox Wetle Rising Star Award in Health Services and Aging Research Recipient

Dr. Gilmore-Bykovskyi will present a lecture on "Progress in investigating social and behavioral communication patterns among individuals with moderate to advanced dementia, particularly in minority and diverse populations."

Kali Thomas, MA, PhD

2020 Terrie Fox Wetle Rising Star Award in Health Services and Aging Research Recipient

Dr. Thomas will present a lecture on "The Role of Home-Delivered Meals Programs in Improving Health and Promoting Community Independence for Older Adults"

This three-day virtual event will also include the AFAR Grantee Conference, the Glenn Workshop on the Biology of Aging, and the New Investigators in Alzheimer's disease meeting. The meeting will be held from November 10 - 14th.
