Debates over the pros and cons of health screenings, both novel and established, for diseases from prostate cancer to Alzheimer’s, have filled the news this year. Join AFAR for “To Screen or Not to Screen?,” a webinar devoted to examining the risks and rewards of health screenings for diseases prevalent among older adults. Will screenings save lives or just cause unneeded stress, unnecessary and risky treatments, and higher healthcare costs? The answer may vary based on health circumstances and age.
Leading health experts Christine Cassel, MD, President of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the ABIM Foundation, and Richard Besdine, MD, Director of the Center for Gerontology and Health Care Research at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and AFAR Medical Officer, will review recent screening developments and new research findings, and discuss screening implications unique to adults over age 60. This one hour webinar will include an audience Q&A session.
The webinar will be held Wednesday July 25, 2012; 1:30 pm EDT. Click here to register. "To Screen or Not to Screen?" is funded by an educational grant from the Cigna Foundation.
