Grantee in the News: Valter Longo shares insights on Calorie Restriction in Real Simple
In March 2016, the popular magazine Real Simple featured 1998 AFAR Grantee and 2013 recipient of the Vincent Cristofalo Rising Star Award in Aging Research, Valter Longo, PhD.
Dr. Longo contributed insights from his research on calorie restriction as a weight loss strategy to this article on belly fat loss.
Longo’s research on the relationship between calorie restriction and aging has gained even larger attention. As published in Cell Metabolism, Dr. Longo has found that in yeast, mice, and human trials, short-term, fasting-like diets reduced risk factors related to aging, diabetes, cardiovascular, cardiovascular disease, and cancer.
Dr. Valter Longo is the Edna M. Jones Professor of Gerontology and a Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Southern California, Davis.
