Grantee in the News: Terrence Town Finds Immune System Response that Cleans Alzheimer’s Plaque
On February 4th, 2015, Neuron published 2014 Julie Martin Mid-Career Award recipient, Terrence Town, Ph.D.’s, research indicating that the body’s immune system may be able to clear the brain of toxic plaque build-up related to Alzheimer’s disease.
Dr. Town stated, “Our study shows that ‘rebalancing’ the immune response to wipe away toxic plaques from the brain may bring new hope for a safe and effective treatment for this devastating illness of the mind.”
