Eric Coleman, MD, MPH, was awarded an unrestricted “genius” fellowship award by the Charles D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation on October 2. Dr. Coleman is a geriatrician who studies care transitions and aims to find ways to reduce the number of unnecessary hospital readmissions. A phenomenon that affects many older adults, avoidable readmissions are costly and dangerous both to patients and the health care system.
