Fountain of Youth
Dr. Joshua Lederberg

AFAR celebrates the life and mourns the death of one of our nation’s pre-eminent scientists and Nobel laureate Joshua Lederberg, president emeritus of Rockefeller University. At the age of 33, Dr. Lederberg was awarded a Nobel Prize for his research in genetic structure and function in microorganisms that helped to lay the groundwork for engineering, modern biotechnology, and genetic approaches to medicine. In addition to his many honors, AFAR was honored to have awarded Dr. Lederberg its Irving S. Wright Award, recognizing his enormous contributions to the field of aging research.
