Within the last few years, the focus of the Alzheimer’s disease research community has shifted from seeking a cure for the disease to concentrating on prevention. The National Institutes of Health, for example, have earmarked more research funding for research centers investigating prevention, and some scientists believe that effective means of preventing the disease may be available within a decade. Researchers are also making excellent progress in developing new means of detecting Alzheimer's disease earlier.
