AFAR-GE Healthcare Junior Investigator Award for
Excellence in Cancer-Aging Research

This award will recognize the most innovative research related to the interface between cancer and the biology of aging. Only applications that deal with how basic mechanisms in the biology of aging "set the stage" for the emergence of cancer or how such mechanisms can serve to enhance early diagnosis and treatment will be considered.

Four prizes of $1,500 will be awarded plus reimbursement for travel expenses (up to $500).

The award program was established in conjunction with AFAR's scientific conference, Cancer and Aging: Two Sides of the Same Coin, taking place on October 6 and 7, 2008.

Criteria/Award Eligibility
Maximum 5-years post doctoral by October 6, 2008

Application Procedure
The application should consist of a nomination letter by a senior researcher, an abstract pertaining to the biology of aging and cancer-related research, the applicant's abbreviated CV (NIH style bio sketch format preferred), a copy of one published or accepted paper, and a letter of recommendation from a second person familiar with the work. Submitted application should be no more than 20 pages in length plus published or accepted paper.

The application and all additional materials must be emailed to geaward@afar.org no later than August 20, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. (EST) as a single PDF or Word file application, not to exceed 5 MB. Files formatted solely for Macintosh will not be accepted.
