Dorothy Dillon Eweson Lecture Series

AFAR would like to invite you to consider applying for an exciting sponsorship opportunity. The Dorothy Dillon Eweson Lecture Series is a unique sponsorship program that allows you to present your research findings at an annual scientific or medical specialty association meeting where aging related research is not the primary focus, providing funding of up to $1500 to cover travel expenses and honoraria. We are especially encouraging lecturers who are new to the program this year and who will be presenting at meeting venues within the continental United States.

The Eweson Lecture Series on Advances in Aging Research was established in 1997 by AFAR board member Dorothy Dillon Eweson in an effort to bring the issues of aging and age-related diseases and conditions to the forefront of medical association conferences. The Eweson Lecturers strive to increase awareness of aging issues within specialty areas by presenting cutting-edge papers and research on topics directly relating to specific disciplines.

Recent presentations have included such nontraditional venues as:

  • The American Transplant Congress
  • The Annual Meeting of the Macular Society
  • The International Society for Posture and Gait
  • American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation
  • The Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Neurology
  • The Annual Meeting of the Society of General Internal Medicine
  • The International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis
  • The Annual Meeting of the American College of Rheumatology
  • The Annual Meeting of The Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies
  • The International Congress of Pathophysiology

Complete listing of funded presentations.

The Eweson Lecture Series provides funding of up to $1500 to cover travel expenses and honoraria. AFAR is able to fund approximately six to ten lectures a year. Proposals are evaluated upon submission. We encourage you to take advantage of this unique opportunity, particularly if you have already been invited to speak at a meeting this year that fits within the program parameters. If you are accepted as a Eweson lecturer we ask that you request to be identified as such on the meeting program and that you provide documentation of that acknowledgement for our files.

AFAR is accepting applications to participate in the Dorothy Dillon Eweson Lecture Series for the year 2008. If you have any questions about the program, please contact Catherine Cullar at AFAR, (212) 703-9977.
