AFAR Hosts Awards Dinner Celebration
More than 200 people joined AFAR for an evening of
Great Expectations on Monday, November 15 to honor leaders
in the corporate and scientific community for their
commitment to the field of aging research. The dinner,
held at New York City's Essex House, raised nearly $300,000
which will be used to fund the nation's junior scienists
who are conducting research into aging and aging-related
diseases.
Honorees included:
Larry Ellison, CEO, Oracle Corporation
Joe Feczko, M.D., president, worldwide development,
Pfizer Inc
John Trojanowski, M.D., Ph.D., co-director of the
Center of Neurodegenerative Disease Research, director
of the Institute on Aging, and a professor of geriatric
medicine at the University of Pennsylvania
Roy Walford, M.D. (posthumously), a renowned scientist
and maverick in the area of aging research, particularly
caloric restriction and its affect on the aging process
